Thunder Ink Top EuroLeague Player Micic
Serbian guard joins OKC after three seasons with Anadolu Efes
Micic to earn $7.7 million per season
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard Vasilije Micic to a multi-year contract, the team announced today. Micic, 29, joins the Thunder after three seasons with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL), where he won three consecutive EuroLeague championships and was named the EuroLeague MVP in 2021.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 29 EuroLeague games last season. He also shot 46.9% from the field, 42.7% from three-point range, and 84.4% from the free throw line.
Micic is a product of the Serbian youth system and has played for the Serbian national team since 2013. He helped Serbia win the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the bronze medal at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The Thunder are hoping that Micic can provide some much-needed playmaking and scoring punch to their young team. The team finished with a 24-58 record last season and missed the playoffs.
Micic is expected to join the Thunder for training camp in September.
